Comments from clients

I have worked with Julie for more than a decade. If I were to describe her in just a few phrases they would be: attention to detail, thorough, reliable, time efficient and highly professional. On more than one occasion over the past ten years I have called Julie to see if she can help me with an urgent editing, formatting or a graphic design job. Julie has a rare capacity to stay calm under pressure while attending to all the details of the task at hand – from 300-page printed conference proceedings through to complex electronic books right down to simple flyers and newsletters. She always delivers on-time and to an extremely high standard. Julie has honed her editing skills over many years in the printing and publishing industries. Her editorial capacities are second-to-none and I would have no hesitation in recommending her.

…In leading this project, Julie managed a team of around six other members of the Maritime Heritage Association’s multi-talented and diverse Publishing Committee – plus my brother and myself who had not previously published a book. That process included proofreading, editing, layout, the exceptional cover design, selection and management of the printer, budgeting and now, marketing the book. She over-sighted all that work diligently, methodically, harmoniously and without fuss. She also contributed substantively to each of those aspects of the process. She has an exceptional eye for detail as well as keeping an eye on overall results. She is confident in her judgments, open to other views and applies nous and common sense to her work.

…I have been very lucky to have worked with Julie and her team and owe her a great debt of gratitude. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her to take on similar work involving similar skills and aptitudes in the future…

More about this book…

I worked with Julie over a period of 18 months on a very special writing project: The Butterfly Blessing. It was a series of journal entries I compiled during the birth and loss of our third child. These entries were converted into a book that chronicled a conversation between myself and my unborn son. A very sensitive and intuitively empathetic editorial approach was required with an undertaking like this, and Julie’s clear vision for what a finished product might look like ensured that we as a family felt supported throughout this process. At all times we trusted Julie’s guidance on what to include and what to leave out. Thus, while editorial honesty is always necessary to create a book, we always felt in good hands with Julie. Given the nature of the book’s material, Julie has become an important part of our journey with our son; her editorial support was a gift. I thoroughly recommend Julie’s commitment, diligence and importantly care for any meaningful writing project.
